Forty-nine-year-old Sunny Coast resident, Beth, has fond memories of a childhood lived outdoors. Surfing, scuba diving and even skiing—she was a natural athlete, excelling in sports and thriving in school. The future was full of possibility.

But, little by little, Beth’s world began to narrow as a rare condition took her sight.

With every passing year, Beth’s vision deteriorated further. Her world grew narrower, until at just 21 she became completely blind.

On top of facing challenges with everyday tasks, her hopes for the future were fading as well.

That’s when Beth’s first Guide Dog came into her life—and widened her world. Over the past 30 years, Beth has had four wonderful Guide Dogs helping her through every stage of her life—Oakes, Teena, Queenie and now Flinnie.

“These beautiful dogs helped me to be an everyday mum…to have an everyday family life. Sure, I might have had to go about it in a different way, but I could do everything I needed to do thanks to my Guide Dogs.”

Please send a tax-deductible gift before 30 June and help 18 Queenslanders on our waitlist to have their own worlds widened with the help of a remarkable, fully-trained Guide Dog.
